Originally established at the Royal Hallamshire
Hospital, the department relocated to enhanced laboratory facilities
in 1993. Whilst offering a comprehensive diagnostic immunology
service the department has a major interest in protein genetics
and in tumour markers. The department organises the UKNEQAS
programmes for immunology and immunochemistry and has an international
reputation in the field of protein standardisation.
