Glasgow Royal Infirmary

The Scottish Trace Element and Micronutrient Reference Laboratory, which is situated in the Department of Clinical Biochemistry at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, is centrally funded to provide a Trace Element and Vitamin analytical and interpretive service to NHS Scotland clinicians. The Trace Element Section is currently progressively moving from atomic absorption spectroscopy to ICP-MS technology and offers a comprehensive repertoire of toxic and essential trace elements. Analytical performance is monitored by participation in accredited External Quality Assessment Schemes in UK, USA and Canada.
