Sheffield NGH Bone Markers Unit

Northern General Hospital (NGH)

Sheffield has had an active academic interest in metabolic bone disease for many years. The Sheffield SAS Bone Markers Unit was designated at the Northern General Hospital NHS Trust to make the expertise of Professor Eastell and his team in the development and use of bone markers available to NHS laboratories. The Unit is directed, within the Department of Clinical Chemistry, by Dr Trevor Gray and provides the routine service for the metabolic bone disease clinics run by Professor Eastell. Samples received through the SAS will be analysed on this routine service and where sufficient patient information is given, an individual interpretation will be provided with the report based on the clinical expertise available within the Unit.
